Parkview boys’ soccer “took the field” in the fall of 1983. We were fortunate to have several
players who had played soccer as this sport was new to Springfield. We have had former players
go on to play college soccer, work as referees and coach. At our Field dedication and team reunions in August of 2000, we had a number of former players return to play and reminisce with us. The boys soccer team won their first district championship in the fall of 2019.
Many changes have occurred in our program over the years due to the tireless efforts of our booster club. Two field sites have been used and improved, concessions have been sold, buildings have been built, soccer goals have been purchased and fund raising has been done to help with expenses.

Recent expansion and leveling of our home field coupled with the chance to play on artificial turf at JFK have given our program a giant boost. A summer soccer camp for kids rounds out our busy soccer year during which our high school players serve as coaches to boys and girls either new to soccer or striving to improve their games.

Girls’ high school soccer in Springfield began in 1994 as an intramural sport only. Not until 1996
did girls’ high school soccer become part of the R-12 athletic program. Parkview’s girls’ soccer program has had its share of success with 2nd place district honors in 1999 and 2000 and several players taking All State and All District awards. The Parkview girls’ soccer program won Ozark Conference in 2010, and they won the Class 3 District 12 Championship in 2011. Some of our players are also successful athletes in other sports as well, such as volleyball, softball, and basketball. They come to spring practice in excellent physical shape and with a true love of competition.
